Colour Correcting 101
In order to be able to conceal imperfections without having to cake on the concealer, you should begin by color correcting. There are several different shades used to cancel out certain colors and contrary to popular belief you don’t need a lot. You only need to cover the affected area and then you need to blend it in and leave it for a few minutes before you apply your foundation or make highlighter over that area.
It’s also very important to know which colour works best for your skin tone. Below are some colour correction shades that should work for most if not all skin types.
Yellow – Cancels purple tones and calms mild redness
Green – Cancels redness, great for acne/breakouts
Pink – Brightens dull and dark spots on lighter skin colours
Purple – Neutralizes dull yellow undertones on light skin
Peach – Cancels dark circles on light skin
Orange – Cancels dark circles on medium to dark skin. Darker orange for the darker skin tones.
Every brand under the sun has colour correctors and at this point the high and low end brands perform quite well. You would be able to purchase the one for you at any of the beauty stores across St Vincent.
Don’t be afraid to give it a try and remember, blend blend blend.
