Letter to King James [1889 – 1973]
Born of poor parentage
Man of all seasons, though somewhat diminutive
You were a stalwart in mind
Self made you were
Fell in love with princess Elfrida
Bonded in holy matrimony Dec.22nd, 1922
A wise and kind husband, ardent father,
Business man, community leader,
No time for gossip, no time for mischief
Jovial you were, but thoroughly time tabled
Man of all season, man of all times{{more}}
Manufactures, farmers, accountant, butcher,
Bookkeeper, overseer, lawyer in your own rights
Family matter, community debates
With staff in hand you set the record straight
You made it simple, no charge you demand
You settled disputes; you were Godâs chosen man
Grandfather, you were a neighbourâs dream,
Good friend, Good Samaritan, peacemaker,
Family guy et al
Trough the history books you may never bring
You were my hero, you were my King
Responsibilities you took seriously
On you they seemed to have fallen naturally,
At 84 you took a shower, also a photograph,
Went into your workshop as you usually did
One hour later you were back upstairs
Unusual it seems, Today you said âI do not feel too wellâ
And quietly slipped into bed
No fanfare, no request, no pain
You left us as honorably as you had lived
Goodbye grandfather may the angels keep guard
We shall meet again someday for a reward.
