Fuzion players leave imprint on regional Tennis Tourney

Four players from the Fuzion Tennis Academy of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) who participated in Trinidad and Tobago’s Trinity Cup Central America and the Caribbean Tennis Confederation (Cotecc) competitions did not medal, but came away the richer for the experience gained.

The Cotecc Under-12 and Under-14 competitions were held from April 12-16, 2025, at the National Racquet Centre, in Tacarigua, Trinidad.

Vincentians, Nakayda Caine and Amaia Waterstone reached the Girls Under-12 semi-finals. Caine won Josey Khan 4-2,4-1 in the main draw; then lost to Trinidad and Tobago’s Teijah Wellington 3-5,1-4.

Amaia Waterstone lost to Josey Khan in the Girls consolation, 3-5, 2-4.

However, they both showed grit in their performances in the Girls’ Doubles finals against Trinidad and Tobago’s top duo, Teijha Wellington and Suriya Ramdath who triumphed 7-5, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Danelle Kennedy advanced to the main draw of the Under-14’s but lost to the host country’s number one player, Makeda Baine 0-6, 1-6; and, Akquin Johnson was unable to get past Jacob Jacelon of Trinidad and Tobago, going under 1-6, 0-6.
