Four win double titles at National Junior Squash Championships
Four players copped double titles when the 2025 Tus-T Water SVG Junior National Squash Championships concluded on April 12, at the National Squash Centre, Paul’s Avenue.
The four are Chloe Samuel, who took the Girls Under-11 and Under-13 titles; Savante Padmore who won the Boys Under-11 and Under 13; Caeli George took the Girls Under-15 and Under-17 titles; and Jayden George who won the Boys Under-17 and Under-19.
In dominating the Girls Under-11, Samuel saw off Lisa Martinez 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-5.
In the Under-13, Samuel had 3-2 sets win over Shanice John, along with a 3-0 defeat of Caeli Samuel, and had a 3-1 triumph over Roshonte Pompey.
To the good, Chloe Samuel was also adjudged the Most Disciplined Player.
Meanwhile, Savante Padmore got the better of Zavin Garrick 11-1, 16-14, 11-8, to claim his Under-11 title; and registered an 11-6, 11-8, 11-4 win over Ethan Webster, on his way to claiming the Under-13 title.
Caeli George defeated Maria Chapman, 11-1, 115, 11-7, in the final of the Girls Under-15; and had an 11-9, 11-0, 11-7, trumping over Zoe Martin in the Girls Under-17 showdown.
Completing the double title holders list was Jayden George, who navigated the Under-17 course without any bumps, as he defeated all comers- J’ Quan Stephens, Aiden De Freitas, and Deron Lewis with aplomb, winning all three by 3-0 margins.
Standing alone with a solitary title was Ciara George who came away winner over Zoe Martin, 11-2, 11-6, 11-2, in the Girls Under-19 square off.
Despite Martin’s two second places, she was the adjudicators’ choice for the Most Improved Player.
The other stand-out award was the Best Sportsmanship, with Maria Chapman being the recipient.
