Vincentian Squash players drawing level
All national Squash players are being afforded quality rackets and balls, on par with their regional counterparts.
Thanks to a grant from the St Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee(SVGOC), the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association (SVGSA) has been placed in a position to make this happen.
On receipt of the quantity of equipment, President of the SVGSA Amber Glasgow, highlighted the significance of the grant.
“ It is more than dollars and cents as the equipment embellishes the psyche of our players, giving them that sense of equality and they can match up with their opponents.”
Glasgow feels that it also helps to defuse some of the notion that Squash is a “big shot” sport.
“ This initiative is not just about performance; it’s about breaking down the widely misguided belief that Squash is a rich people sport, by enabling our national athletes to access gear, thus fostering a culture where talent and hard work, not financial means- determine success,” Glasgow said.
The SVGSA president reasoned that the equipment grant also forms a vital piece of the matrix that her association is framing to move to the next levels of Squash both regionally and internationally.
