Squash Association buoyed by Snagg’s certification
The Amber Glasgow-led executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association (SVGSA), is more than excited with the recent certification of Jules Snagg.
Snagg completed a Federation of Pan American Squash, three-day World Squash Federation (WSF) Level One Coaching Course in Jamaica, held from March 7 to 9, 2025, at the Liguanea Club, in New Kingston.
The lone Vincentian at the course, Snagg was among 10 coaches drawn from the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica, who were under the tutelage of Colin White, a World Squash Federation and European Squash Federation Level 1, 2 and 3, certified coach and tutor.
Glasgow told SEARCHLIGHT “While our players have been trained under these coaches, the absence of a certified coach leaves gaps. So, to prevent this from reoccurring, we have prioritised coaching education and certification to ensure continuity with our athletes’ development”.
Glasgow was especially happy that Snagg, with his enthusiasm and drive, will be able to impart his knowledge to the young players.
“We are seeing a growth in the number of youngsters coming forward to play Squash, but we have to balance the limited court space and the technical personnel at our disposal.”
Looking ahead, Glasgow said she is confident that Snagg will seek further certification as he makes his way up the rungs up the ladder of Squash coaching.
