Georgetown Secondary takes first ever All Windward Athletics Title
The Georgetown Secondary School ran away winners of the first ever All Windward Athletics Meet last Friday March 7, 2025, after amassing a total of 425 points. They were followed in second place by the George Stephens Senior Secondary School with 328 points; and in third place was the Emmanuel High School, Mesopotamia with 321 points. Fourth place was the West St. George Secondary School who amassed 299 points. The North Union Secondary School placed fifth with 267 points, and six was the New Adelphi Secondary School with 82 points.
Georgetown Secondary’s championship run was led by three of their athletes- 12 year old Onesia Moore, who amassed 36 points to be the Girls Junior Division champion; 13 year old J’Shorn Johnny who finished with 27 points and won the Boys Junior Division champion; and 20 year old Mitchron John who amassed 28 points and took the Boys Senior Division champion.
Other outstanding individual were 15 year old Rahelia James of the North Union Secondary School who, with 25 points, emerged as the Intermediate Girls Division champion. The Intermediate Boys’ Division champion was 16 year old Tyrese Hackshaw of the George Stephens Senior Secondary School with 25 points; while 17 year old Da Lonya Questelles of the West St. George Secondary School with 18 points,won the Girls Senior Division title.
The title of Victrix Ludorum went to Onesia Moore of the Georgetown Secondary School, and the Victor Ludorum was Mitchron John also of the Georgetown Secondary School.
Physical Education teacher at the Georgetown Secondary School and chair of the All Windward Organising Committee, Steadroy Deane told SEARCHLIGHT that he was pleased with the massive turnout.
“It was expected … the people were waiting for this.”
Assessing the performances of the schools, Deane said there were no surprises.
“I am really happy for George Stephen (Senior Secondary School), and the way they performed. We knew Georgetown (Secondary School) was going to do well. All the schools did their best, and next year will be greater.”
