Volume 2 are champs in SVGCC’s Volleyball Competition
Debutants, Volume 2 made a grand entry into the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s Invitational Volleyball Competition, by finishing top of the pile in the 2025 edition.
Facing the Division of Arts, Science and General Studies Spikers in the final on Friday, March 7, at the Villa Campus hard court, Volume 2 won three sets to two (24-26, 25-20, 25-14, 10-25, 15-8).
The two teams reached the finals in contrasting fashion.
Volumne 2 got the better of the 2024 runners-up, Associates Blockers, in straight sets in semi final number one, (25 13, 25-20, 25-22).
However, Spikers did not sweat the 2024 winners- Country Roots All Stars who were unable to field sufficient players when their match was called.
Country Roots, though, made amends in the third place play off, disposing of Blockers in straight sets ( 25-15, 25-17, 25-16).
Taking most of the individual awards was Tayon Burgin of Volume 2, who copped the MVP of the final, overall MVP, as well as the Best Offensive Player accolade.
Other awardees were Jomoro Alleyne of DASGS All Stars, who received honorary mention as the Best Defensive Player, while the Best Defensive Player was Zarique Franklyn of Country Roots All Stars.
Meanwhile, Tariq Duncan of Country Roots All Stars stashed the honorary mention for receiving the Best Defensive Player award.
Also rewarded were the MVP of the other eight competing teams, along with the Most Improved players of the nine units.
