Vincy Premier League returns next month

The Dream 11 Vincy Premier League (VPL) 10/10 returns to the local cricket calendar when the 2025 edition serves off at the Arnos Vale Playing Field from April 7-20.

Dubbed “Lit the Vibes 2025”, the competition will attract six teams, these being Botanical Rangers; Salt Pond Breakers; La Soufriere Hikers; Dark View Explorers; Grenadines Divers; and Fort Charlotte Strikers.

On Monday, February 24, 2025, at the National Sports Council’s Conference Room, the competing teams completed the draft with the selection of their 10 remaining players.

Before the draft, five players were named as protected for the six outfits.

For the Rangers, the protected players are Kenneth Dember (captain), Keron Cottoy, Andre Fletcher, Roshon Primus and Desron Maloney.

Meanwhile, Breakers have retained Delorn Johnson (captain), Kadeem Alleyne, Ricarvo Williams, Shian Braithwaite and Sunil Ambris.

The Hikers will be led by Dillon Douglas, with the other protected players being Jaheil Walters, Rayon Williams, Othneil Williams and Gilon Tyson.

Explorers has Kesrick Williams as captain, and also retained Shamon Hooper, Tilron Harry, Benniton Stapleton and Ashley Nurse, as their protected players.

In the case of Grenadines Divers, Asif Hooper was retained as captain, and has as well Obed Mc Coy, Ryshon Williams, Deron Greaves and Westrick Strough as the protected players.

Strikers, led by retained player captain, Gidron Pope, also has as their other protected players- Sealroy Williams, Carlos Braithwaite, Jerome Jones and Hyron Shallow.

Among the innovations for this edition is the hosting of night matches on the final weekend.

The winning team pockets $50,000. The last VPL tournament was held in 2023.
