​Fourteen new records set in 2025 Inter-Primary Athletics Semi-finals

As was expected by a number of knowledgeable track and field persons who witnessed the Zonal Qualifiers, 14 new records were established at the semi-finals of the 2025 Inter-Primary School Athletics Championships, held on Wednesday March 5, 2025 at the Sir Vincent Beache Stadium, Diamond.

In the Girls’ 9 – 10 age group 80-metre dash, Azaliah Richards from the Questelles Government School ran 11.71 seconds, erasing the old mark of 11.81 seconds set by Skylah Francis, also of the Questelles Government School, in 2022.

Clifford Phillips of the Stephanie Browne Primary School reset the Boys 80-metre dash with a time of 10.27 seconds, erasing the old mark of 10.31 set in 2023 by Chrisroy Stowe, of the Paget Farm Government School. He also set a new age group record in the 300 metres with a time of 39.40 seconds, removing the old mark of 40.76 seconds, run in 2023 by Henley Busbay of the Buccament Government School.

In the Boys’ 7 – 8 age group 50-metre dash, Tre’On Cato of the Canouan Government School ran 7.98 seconds to erase the old mark of 8.03 seconds ran by Aaron Francis of the Barrouallie Government School.

Tiana Duncan of the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School ran 49.23 seconds, setting a new Girls’ 9-10 years 300-metres, removing the old time of 50.36 seconds which was set by Katriel Bailey of the Kingstown Preparatory School in 2022.

Ellon Sandy of the Kingstown Preparatory School dispensed the old Boys’ 9-10 age group 300 metres record with a time of 46.64 seconds, erasing the old time of 47.60 seconds set by Mark Dells of the Buccament Bay Primary School, in 2023.

The Lowmans Windward Government School eclipsed the old mark of 38.10 seconds setting a new Girls’ 4 – 6 4X50 metres relay time, thus erasing the old time of 38.99 seconds which was set by the Questelles Government School, in 2023.

In the Girls’ 9 – 10 age group 4X80 metres relay, the old time of 48.57 seconds set in 2022 by the Stephanie Browne Primary School, was erased by the Kingstown Government School with a new record time of 48.54 seconds.

The Kingstown Preparatory School ran a new record time of 45.89 seconds in the Boys’ 9 – 10 4X80 metres relay, removing the old mark of 47.24 seconds which was set by the Stephanie Browne Primary School, in 2022.

 

The Stephanie Browne Primary is now the owner of a new record in the 11-13 age group Boys 4 X 80 metres relay with a time of 42.97 seconds, removing the old mark of 44.26 set by the Questelles Government School, in 2023.

The Stephanie Browne Primary also ran themselves into the record books with a new time in the Boys’ 11 – 13 4X200 metres relay in a time of 1:52.04 seconds, erasing the old time of 1:52.47 seconds set by the Paget Farm Government School, in 2023.

The Kingstown Government School is now the owner of the Girls’ 9 – 10 4X150 metres relay record with a time of 1:32.97 seconds, erasing the old time of 1:36.50 seconds set by the Stephanie Browne Primary School. The males also ran a record time in the same event of 1:28.56 seconds, removing the old time of 1:31.99 seconds which was set by the Stephanie Browne Primary School, in 2022.

The Kingstown Government School girls also ran a new record time of 1:59.15 seconds in the Girls’ 11 – 13 4X200 metres relay, erasing the old time of 2:02.30 seconds.

The finals of the 2025 Inter-Primary Schools Athletics Championships will be contested on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Sir Vincent Beache Stadium.
