Marques Thomas cops SVGCC’s Basketball overall MVP Award

Marques Thomas copped his second overall most valuable player award when the 2025 St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s Invitational Basketball Tournament ended on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Villa Campus Hard Court.

Thomas, the 2022 MVP, who was pivotal in the BlueChip Academy’s scalping its fourth successive title also was his team’s MVP.

Additionally, Thomas got the nod as the best offensive player.

Also rewarded at the presentation ceremony was Playaz Academy’s Zwayne Fisher, as the best defensive player. He also copped his team’s MVP accolade, as well as honorary mention for his offensive skills.

Taking the most improved players awards were Ethan Isaacs, DASGS Mavericks; Marlon Scott Jr., DASGS All Stars; Jonathan Medford, Associates Combined; Kaymal Gopaul, Playaz Academy; and Maxron Dublin, BlueChip Academy.

Dublin was also the MVP of the final, joining Xander Hackshaw, as the MVP of semi-final one; Aquando Henry, semi-final two; and Jonathan Medford, the third -place play-off.

For his defensive work, Maxron Dublin received honorary mention, with Anthony Hazel, chalking up the most steals.

Meanwhile, Chad King- Crick, was the first recipient of the Sports Spirit Award. Camerom Williams, DASGS Mavericks; Temal Gopaul, DASGS All Stars; and Kimesha Antoine, Associates Combined, were the other teams’ MVPs.
