BlueChip Academy buckets SVGCC Basketball Title for the fourth time

Since losing by a 30-31 margin to Medical Schools Combined in the inaugural St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College’s Invitational Basketball Tournament in 2020, the BlueChip Academy has continued to ink its name on the winner’s trophy.

With no tournament in 2021, BlueChip then won in 2022, 2023, 2024, and last Friday, February 15, they added the 2025 edition to the list.

In making it four in a row, BlueChip Academy powered past Playaz Academy 62-44, when the two locked horns in the finals at the Villa Campus Hard Court.

The four-time champions were led by Maxron Dublin, who registered 24 points; with Keagan Hackshaw, 22; and Marques Thomas,18.

For Playaz Academy, the repeat runners- up, Zwayne Fisher topped with 16 points, and Aquando Henry had 11.

A 67-38 downing of Associates Combined in their semi-final match up, saw BlueChip Academy setting up a repeat in the final with Playaz Academy, who, in their semi-final match-up, outscored DASGS All Stars, 75-16.

Associates Combined, the 2023 losing finalist, went on to take the third place, getting past DASGS All Stars, 40-35, to land the bronze medal.

Johathan Medford, 18 points, led the scoring for Associates Combined, with Temar Gopaul scoring 17 points for DSAGS All Stars.
