SVG ‘s women lift Windward Islands 50 over Cricket title

St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) claimed the 50- over format of the 2025 Windward Islands senior women’s cricket Tournament beating Grenada by 8 wickets on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Geneva Park, Grand Bay, Dominica.

With the commanding win the SVG team thus completed an unblemished record in their three matches.

Grenada was bowled out for 53 in 16.3 overs, undone by the bowling of Shanel Mc Kie, who scalped 5 for 13.

Jannillea Glasgow- 12 not out, and Hazel Ann Foster- 11 not out, saw the Vincentians to 56 for 2 from 11 overs.

The win against Grenada, followed wins against Dominica and St Lucia.

When the tournament opened on Sunday, February 9,2025 St Vincent and the Grenadines saw off Dominica by at Geneva Park.

Dominica managed 93 for 6 in the game, reduced to 20 overs, because of rain.

Earnisha Fontaine led with 31, and Amiah Gilbert contributed 27.

But it was not without some rough waves to get over the line, as St Vincent and the Grenadines won on the penultimate ball, scoring 94 for 8.

Hazelann Foster – 18 and Tracy Byron- 14, were the main batters.

Bowling for Dominica, Abini St Jean took 2 for 11; and Aldith Gasper- picked up 2 for 20.

St Vincent and the Grenadines then played at Geneva Park on Monday, February 10, facing defending champions, St Lucia.

St Lucia were dismissed for 78. Crisa Smith top scored with 31.

Wicket takers were Areka Hooper, 3 for 10; Jannillea Glasgow, 2 for 7; and Tracy Byron, 2 for 14.

In reply, St Vincent and the Grenadines, in 18.1 overs, finished at 79 for 7. Japhina Joseph scored 14.

Bowling for St Lucia Selena Ross had 2 for 18.

The teams will shift their focus on the twenty/20 format from today, Friday, February 14.
