Gremlins crowned overall National Volleyball Champions
Gremlins emerged as overall champions of the 2024 St Vincent and the Grenadines Volleyball Association’s National Championships which ended last Saturday, February 1, 2025. Gremlins finished as winners of the Female B and Female A divisions.
Country Roots, new Male A title holders
These two titles, combined with second places in the Male A and B divisions, along with a third place by their second team in the Female B division saw them nipping the other competing teams.
Gremlins handed Eagles a 3-1 beating in the Female B division 25-8, 25-21, 18-25, 25-10; and trumped 25-16, 25-18, 25-12, over Unique Touch, to retain the Female A crown.
Gremlins though surrendered the Male B title to Unique Warriors, as they were beaten in straight sets, 16-25, 18-25, 12-25.
Having won the 2022 Male A title, Gremlins were overpowered by Country Roots in a rematch of that year’s final.
In a fitting cap to the championships, Country Roots were installed as the new champions, winning in a 25-18, 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, humdinger as the edge- of- the seat contest almost went to a decisive fifth set.
Country Roots thus regained the Male A title they last won in 2019.
That was Country Roots’ lone title, but their clan took third place in the Male B and Female A divisions, while Unique Touch copped the third spot in the Male A division.
In all, 15 teams contested the championships, held over from 2024 when two teams went into action in early November.
The 2025 championships are tentatively set to serve off in September.
