Tennis Association chooses Interim Committee as it transitions
The affairs of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tennis Association (SVGTA), will for the next year or so, be administered by an Interim Committee.
This was the preferred course of action taken, following the deferral of elections of the organization, which were intended for last Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Murray Heights Hotel Conference Room.
At that meeting, specifically called to elect the seven officers to make up the executive, persons present agreed that given the state of unfinished governance business of the SVGTA, it was more prudent to get the organisation’s house in order before giving a new executive receives a mandate.
Hence, 10 persons were selected, paving the way for the committee to function with specific roles and objectives.
Those forming the group are: Anthony Mc Kenzie, Taj Ballantyne, Anthony De Freitas, Mark Cyrus, Sebastian Cyrus, Grant Connell, Praye Griffith, Amarlia Benn, Corey Huggins and Yanick Grant.
They are expected to chose from among themselves, the principal officers who will be charged with specific duties.
The Interim Committee thus picks up from the Brian Nash-led administration whose remaining members had indicated their disinterest in being part of any administrative composition. The live span of that executive expired in December, 2024.
Nash, who chaired Saturday’s meeting, from the get go, informed those in attendance that, “The present executive decided not to participate nor put themselves up for elections this cycle, so we would facilitate the introduction of a new executive to take the association forward. Persons with new ideas”.
Nash headed the organization from 2016.
