Rogers House stars in South Rivers Methodist School Sports meet

Rogers House was in winners row at the sports meet of the South Rivers Methodist School last Friday, January 24,2025, with one teacher quipping,”I cannot remember if Rogers House had ever won the title”.

Staged at the South Rivers Playing Field, Rogers House amassed a total of 458 points to take gold. Branch House was in second place with 445 points, and in third place winning bronze was Boyea House with 323 points.

Thirty-six events were held on sports day, and athletes were cheered on by heads of the houses, parents, and well-wishers, including for a short period, Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves, and later, Minister of Sports, Orando Brewster.

The pre-schoolers too had their fun races as part of the day’s activities.

The Under-7 boys’ champion was Aiden McMillan from Rogers House (yellow), with 20 points; while that division’s girls’ champion was Erica Walters, also from Rogers House, with 20 points.

The Under-9 boys’ and girls’ champions were Toran Butler and Karonique Lewis, respectively, both from Branch House (blue), with 30 points apiece.

The Under-11 boys’ champion was Allison Dalzell from Boyea House (red), who amassed 27 points; while that division’s girls’ champion was Zyana Hackshaw from Rogers House, with 30 points.

Anthony Horne from Rogers House with 32 points, won the Over-11 boys’ individual title; while Seymourah Grant from Branch House with 37 points, won the girls’ title. Anthony Horne and Seymourah Grant won the Victor and Victrix Ludorum titles respectively.

Speaking briefly, the Prime Minister thanked the teachers, parents, members of the police band, and all who assisted and contributed towards the successful hosting of the school’s sports meet, and said he was looking out for all the performers.

Principal, Roslyn Johnny, said despite a small school population, she was pleased with the efforts of the students and teachers; while the Minister of Sports commended the efforts of the young athletes saying that he was privileged to witness the meet.
