Increased prize money for National Football Club Championships

Clubs competing in the 2024- 2025 St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation’s National Club Championships are chopping their lips, knowing that there is an increase in the prize money that awaits them.

The increase, according to President of the SVGFF, Otashie Spring is 25 per cent more than the previous pay out in the 2022-2023 championships.

Spring made this known at a meeting of clubs held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the conference room of the SVGFF.

Hence, the total prize money amounts to $235 900, spanning the six competitions that constitute the championships.

The biggest pay-out will be in Tier One (Premier Division), that of $100,500. The winning club gets $ 30,000, second, $24,000; third, $18,000; and fourth, $12,000, while the remaining six get sums ranging from $4,000 to $1,500.

In Tier Two or the First Division, $50, 000 is allocated in prize money. The first-place club earns $15,000, with the runner-up pocketing $12,000; third, $ 9,000; and fourth, $4,000. Also, the losing quarter finalists each gets $2,000. Twenty -five clubs, divided into two groups are listed in Tier Two.

There also will be competition in male Under-15 and Under-17 divisions.

The Under-15 winning club will receive $3,000; second, $2,000; third, $1,000; with fourth place getting $500, and the four losing quarter finalists each receiving $300.

In the Under-17 Division, the winner will be rewarded with $4,000; second place, $3000; third, $2000; and fourth place, $1,000. The losing quarter finalists will each receive a consolation payment of $300. The total payout in the age group divisions is $18,900.

Meanwhile, the females are in two divisions- 11 vs 11, and 7 vs 7.

The club that emerges tops in the 11 vs 11, pockets $12, 000; second gets $10,000; third, $8,000; and fourth, $6,000. The other participating clubs will get cash prizes ranging from $3,000 downwards to $500.

In the case of the 7 vs 7, the winning club will be paid $6,000; second place, $5,000; third place, $4,000; fourth place, $3,000; and the losing quarter finalists get $500 each.

The total prize money for the females stands at $66, 500.

The National Club Championships got going last November with Tier One, which is ongoing; whilst Tier Two is slated to kick off this Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Start dates for the females and the male age group divisions will soon be released.
