Bequia Football League now has an Executive in place

After some years of operating with an ad-hoc committee in place, the Bequia Football League (BFL) has finally elected a full-fledged executive.

The protracted situation was fixed last Tuesday night, January 28, 2025, at the Bequia Community High School, when the BFL held its elective congress.

Even before the congress, it was evident that Patrick Hutchins and Youri Phillips were automatic, as they had no challengers.

Hence, Hutchins was installed as President, Malcolm as Vice- President and Phillips, Treasurer. The trio, apart from being unopposed are new to administration of the sport on the island. Despite his relative inexperience, Hutchins is assuring that he and the other elected members plan to give their tenure their best shot.

“I will like to see Bequia football become vibrant as it used to be. It is the goal of the Bequia Football League to see Football re-emerge as the pre-eminent sport on the island,” Hutchins said.

Among the overarching projections of the Hutchins-led executive is the emphasis on youth development.

For many years, Bequia’s Youth Development programme hinged heavily on the efforts of the likes of retained General Secretary, Wayne Peters, as well as Ralph Stowe and Marlon James.

Stowe, who has led the efforts, will serve on the executive as one of four committee members, along with, Dane Douglas, Thaddeus Forde, and Sophia Pollard.

The quartet outdid the other nominees- Tonisha Marshall, Francila Gregg, Kemo Bynoe and Seliza Hazel, when the votes were counted for the positions.

The elections were supervised by Dominique Stowe, Wollis Christopher and Colin John, who journeyed from the mainland for the said purpose, on behalf of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF).
