Football Federation executive provides relief to affiliates

An additional sum of $15, 000 was made available to Football affiliates who suffered damage as a result of passage of Hurricane Beryl, last July.

This as the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) reached out to affiliates in their hour of need.

Executed on a greater needs basis, three persons each received $3, 500 towards repairs of their roofs, while others were presented with items in kind.

Those who benefitted most from the exhibition of care and humanitarian responsibility of the decision makers of the sport, were Otnell Douglas, Lionel Cumberbatch and Foster Branch.

They were presented with the cheques on December, 24, 2024, at the administrative office of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation. Delighted that his organization was able to touch the lives of affiliates in a tangible way, President of the SVGFF, Otashie Spring, noted, “We as a Football body, are always ready to help in times of need, and this presentation is another manifestation of such. Our mandate is to grow the sport and touching lives of those who have been selfless to Football, and Messrs. Douglas, Cumberbatch and Branch, fit perfectly in this respect”.

Spring disclosed that following passage of the hurricane of July 1, 2024, the SVGFF’s executive obtained knowledge of affiliates that were directly affected and “reached to them”.

The SVGFF President revealed that efforts were made to get funding from “international” bodies, to no avail.

Therefore, funds from the SVGFF’s local account were used to assist the affected affiliates.

Last August, the SVGFF presented $50, 000 to the Accountant General of St Vincent and the Grenadines towards the national relief effort.
