De Shong siblings grab four golds at ASAJ Swim Championships
Kione De Shong and Abigail De Shong together, pouched four gold medals when the two siblings competed for the Black Sands Swim Squad at the Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica (ASAJ) Christmas Open Swimming Championships, staged at the National Aquatic Centre from December 14-17, 2024.
Kione, who was St Vincent and the Grenadines’ lone medallist at the 2024 Carifta Swim Championships, secured gold in the 200m Male 11-12 Breaststroke, clocking 2:57. 61, and in the 100m Breaststroke in which he clocked 1:17.74.
In addition to his two golds, he gained silver in the 50m Breaststroke, with a 39.94s clocking.
With his overall performance, Kione put himself in good stead as he attained some of the qualifying standards for the 2025 Carifta Swimming Championships set for Trinidad and Tobago on the Easter weekend, 2025.
Meanwhile, Kione’s elder sister, Abigail, took gold in the Female 50m Breaststroke, stopping the clock at 37.25s, and in the 100m Breaststroke, registering a time of 1:24.33.
