Avenues perched in pole position
Avenues United goes into 2025 leading the Premier Division of the 2024/ 2025 St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation’s National Club Championships.
When the third of 18 rounds of matches ended on December 18, 2024, Avenues United was the lone outfit to have won all three matches.
Hence, the club sits on a maximum nine points.
Next is Je Belle on seven points gained from two wins and a draw.
In third position is Layou on six points from their two wins and a loss. North Leeward Predators, also on six points with two wins and a loss sits in fourth place on six points because of an inferior goal difference to Layou.
Just outside the top four places is Hope International who also sit on six points from two wins and a loss, but are bettered on goal differential by Layou and North Leeward Predators.
BESCO- Pastures and Sion Hill each has one win and two losses, but the former unit occupies sixth place ahead of Sion Hill as a result of their goal difference.
The remaining positions in the 10-club table see Camdonia- Chelsea on 2 points, earned from two draws and one loss; while Awesome has one point, gathered from one draw and two losses.
In tenth position is SV United who has no points having lost all three matches.
Thus far, the leading goal scorer is Avenues’ Garret Leigertwood with six goals.
Five players are on three goals each. They are the Predators’ pair of Diel Spring and Kirtney Franklyn, as well as BESCO-Pastures’ Jaymarie Jack; Hope International’s Valdo Anderson; and Kenijah Joseph of Layou.
The battle for supremacy resumes on January, 5, 2025, as round four kicks off.
Following the restart of the Premiership, the other divisions will see action on a phased basis.
