Team Athletics SVG’s 2024 calendar of road races, concluded on Sunday, December 15, with the staging of the Sion Hill edition of the third and final event of the Log Enterprises Supreme Bleach 10K.

The final race proved to be the best turn out of athletes. When the final athlete crossed the finish line at the Sion Hill Intersection, it signalled double titles for Ayah Stapleton, Kenneth Gurley, Zita Vincent and Zichri Hepburn.

Stapleton, of High Performance, won the Under-16 female title of the November 24 North Leeward race, and moved up to win the Under-20 in the Sion Hill event.

Gurley, representing IT DAT Academy, copped the Georgetown Road race, staged on October 13, and added the Sion Hill title to his win in the male Under-16.

For Vincent and Hepburn, they followed up titles won in the North Leeward race.

Vincent thus won the female open, and Hepburn, the male open. Vincent competed under the Bio Mechanics banner, while Hepburn carried the aspirations of Team Mustangs.

Entering their names as first time winners were Afiyah Thomas of High Performance who won the female Under-16, while her club mate, Omorion John, took the male Under-20 title.

Meanwhile, the Layou Government School duo of Ashari Hillocks and Rekono Jackson, conquered the female and male segments respectively, among the primary school athletes.

Apart from the winners, the second and third places in each category, earned themselves cash awards, with all competitors receiving a cleaning product, compliments Log Enterprises.

Staged within the Sion Hill community, the primary school athletes had their start at the bridge at the Sion Hill Government School, and travelled to the Sion Hill Intersection via Casson Hill.

The other categories utilized the Sion Hill Intersection as their start and finish points, traversing the Sion Hill Bay by-pass road, bottom Roseau and Casson Hill.

The Under-16 did one lap of the route, with the Under-20s doing so twice, and the open category, thrice.
