Sion Hill Government, GHS and TSSS take top Netball titles

Three champions were crowned last Saturday November 30, 2024 in the finals of the 2024 St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Inter-Primary and Inter-Secondary Schools Netball Tournaments.

Girls High School – 2024 Secondary School Junior Netball Champions

In the primary school finals, the Sion Hill Government School held their nerve in the crucial fourth and final quarter to defeat the Fitz Hughes Government School 13 – 12, with the third place secured by the Chateaubelair Methodist School.

The top individual awardees in the primary school division saw Saviliah Phillips of the Richland Park Government School taking the award for the most goals scored-84 from 145 attempts. The best defensive player in the finals was Kacia Hooper of the Fitz Hughes Government School; the award for best mid-court player in the finals went to Janai Frank of the Sion Hill Government School; and most valuable player of the finals award went to Kyra Lewis of the Sion Hill Government School.

The Girls’ High School defeated the Petit Bordel Secondary School 28-19 to take the 2024 Inter-Secondary Schools Junior Netball title, while Canouan Secondary placed third.

In the individual awards, Kathryn Cumberbatch of the Girls’ High School took the award for the most goals scored, having sunk 220 from 294 attempts. The best defensive player award went to Naliah Kydd of Petit Bordel Secondary; while Kalia Wyllie of the Girls’ High School took the award for best mid-court player, and also was named most valuable player of the finals.

The Thomas Saunders Secondary School won the 2024 Inter-Secondary Schools Senior Netball title with a 42 – 31 defeat of the Emmanuel High School, Mesopotamia. Georgetown Secondary School placed third.

Giada Small of the Georgetown Secondary School won the award for most goals scored- 103 from 149 attempts; Patrina Patterson of the Thomas Saunders Secondary School won the best mid-court player award; and Juneka Quow of the Thomas Saunders Secondary won the award for being the best defensive player, and also landed the award for being the most valuable player in the finals.
