Secondary schools Table Tennis titles go as expected

There were not many murmurs when the secondary schools’ Table Tennis titles finals were played on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Girls Guides Headquarters, located in Level Garden, Kingstown.

Taking the teams title was the St Vincent Grammar School, who defeated West St George Secondary, 3- 0, as Macahlie Hazelwood, Lamont Gregg and Terrance Ashton, got the better of Joshua Simmons, Juvantte Baptiste, and Maleeq Bascombe in that order, all by 3-0 margins.

The Troumaca Ontario Secondary took the third place, winning by default over the Bequia Community High.

In the singles, seasoned players- Louhkya Premraj and Zayden Cyrus were winners.

Premraj, of the Girls’ High school, defeated Myra Laborde of the Torumaca Ontario Secondary 11/3, 11/2, 11/2.

Cyrus, of the Troumaca Ontario defeated Malachi Bascombe of West St George Secondary 11/5, 11/5, 11/2, en route to his crowning moment.

In the battles for the third places, Denece Baptiste of West St. George defeated Zefia Lett of the Troumaca Ontario Secondary 11/8, 12/10, 8/11, 11/8; while the Grammar School’s Macahlie Hazelwood won the battle with Thomas Saunders’ Oran-Jay Williams, prevailing 14/12 ,5/11, 11/13, 15/13, 11/9, in a game that went the distance.

Cyrus was named the most outstanding player.
