Sion Hill dominates in Netball awards
The Sion Hill clan walked away with most of the individual awards in the 2024 edition of the Vita Malt Sion Hill Netball Tournament which concluded last Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the Sion Hill Playing Field hard court.
Carting off with most of the awards was Sion Hill Two’s Ammunique Edwards, who copped the Lolita Charles -sponsored award of Best Center Court player. She also received the Eddie Peters trophy, for being adjudged the Individual Choice of the Tournament. Also lodged in Sion Hill’s trophy cabinet was the most goals award in both divisions.
Sion Hill One’s Annicia Dallaway, who sank 110 goals from 159 attempts, received the Claudia Williams/ Blue Plumbing Services- sponsored prizes.
Shania Browne was the top shooter in Division Two, scoring 172 of her 228 attempts. It was not done for Sion Hill Two, as nine year old Arisha Dallaway, was presented with the Kimesha Edwards- Thompson award, for being the youngest player in the tournament.
Also grasped by the Sion Hill netballers was the Most Disciplined Player award, which went to Shania Lewis.
Chachara Stars in Division Two took the Most Disciplined team award; the Sardo Strikers Best Dressed award; and the award for Best Banner.
There was also the Most Valuable Player award for each of the 13 teams that competed in the tournament. The Division One recipients were Giada Small of Ekklesia Simple Netters; Kristiana Christopher of National Properties Netters; Dian Toney of Sion Hill One; and Phianza Laborde of Total Ten Netters.
In Division Two, the awardees were Monelle Lavia of San Souci Blazers; De Juana James of Chachara Stars; Britney John of Conquerors; Aneshia Bacchus of Jaguars; Brittney Harris of Mystics; Nickyla Tannis of Police Youth Club Blazers; Kianna Lewis from Sardo Strikers; Ammunique Edwards of Sion Hill Two; and Tahalia James representing 3 J’s Valley Strikers.
