SVGFF Exco yet to receive formal letter of resignation from executive member
Despite the public ventilation of the resignation of elected Committee Member’ Koyana Horne, the Otashie Spring led executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) is yet to be informed formally.
A former FIFA approved referee, Horne was elected on March 21, 2024 as one of five Committee Members, at the SVGFF’s Elective Congress.
In an unexpected turn of events, Horne tendered her resignation, with immediate effect on October 30, 2024.
Emailed to affiliates of the SVGFF, and copied to Concacaf and Fifa, Horne’s letter made the rounds in the local and regional media.
However, a reliable source within the executive committee of the SVGFF told SEARCHLIGHT that Horne’s letter has not been received by President Spring, nor Acting General Secretary, Peter Edward.
Addressing both Spring and Edward, provides the formality required in such matters.
Horne, a newcomer to national football representation, listed several peeves that forced her resignation, but put “communication” at the top of the tree.
“Internally, there seems to be a rationing of information on a ‘need to know’ basis. In attempts to question things so I could have clarity and understanding, too many of the things asked were left without answers or given partial responses. Information is received after the fact or from alternative sources”, Horne lamented.
Other issues that Horne highlighted in her resignation letter included the intimate involvement of former SVGFF President, Venold Coombs in the affairs of the Executive Council, “segregation within the Council”, “misrepresentation of the discussions held and agreements made at meetings”, as well as lack of knowledge relative to “the financial status of the organization”.
