Vasha Adams attends ICAB Programme

Vincentian, Vasha Adams, left the state on Monday, October 7, 2024, to participate in an International Coaching Apprenticeship in Basketball (ICAB) Programme at the University of Delaware, USA.

The ICAB programme is funded by the International Olympic Solidarity (OS) through the St Vincent and the Grenadines Olympic Committee (SVGOC). Adams, a local level One FIBA certified coach, before her stint in the USA, was involved in a four month online preparation.

Among her preparatory engagements were two sessions per month with guest speakers. In the USA, Adams will participate in a two day workshop in Newark, a three week apprenticeship with a NCAA club, as well as a three day final workshop.

Adams, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science from the West Texas A & M University, comes from a strong background in the sport, along with a list of accomplishments, hence her selection. Among some listings on Adams’ resume are her attainment and selection to an All- American Basketball team; honourable mention on the All-American Basketball team; Basketball player of the month in the month of February at West Texas A &M University; National Sports Woman of the Year nominee 2008 and 2009; as well as the Rookie of the tournament Gillian Brazier basketball tournament in Antigua, 2008; and an all-star team selection at the Gillian Brazier Basketball tournament in Antigua.

Additionally, Adams has a long-term Athlete Development Certificate, was a member to the FIBA World

Coaching staff of children at the world basketball camp in Turkey; FIBA Commissioner and table official certification, 2023. She is a member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Women’s Basketball team and Coach and supervisor of activities for primary and secondary schools, here in SVG.

President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation (SVGBF), Suzette Jackson said she eagerly looks forward to Adams’ return when she will share her new knowledge and experiences to fuel the local Basketball efforts.

Adams is set to return on November 6, 2024.
