Kombat Warriors and Fairbaine United win in TBPO Softball
Kombat Warriors and Fairbaine United recorded wins in the 2024 National Lotteries Authority TBPO Softball Cricket Competition that began in earnest on Sunday, September 22, at the Dauphine Playing Field.
In Sunday’s first fixture, Kombat Warriors defeated East Kingstown by 8 wickets.
East Kingstown made 105/9 from their 20 overs. Joel Gould led with 21.
Bowling for Kombat Warriors, Donaldson Harry picked off 3/18.
Kombat Warriors responded with 109/2 from 12.2 overs. National cricketer, Romano Pierre, was the architect for Kombat Warriors’ total, as he scored 52 not out.
In match two, Fairbaine United won from Gomea Bombers by 123 runs.
Fairbaine United scored 180 all out from 19.1 overs. Glendon James, 30; Antonio Barker, 23; Dave Duncan, 22; while Bernard Bushay and Andrew Little, both contributed 20 each.
Former national cricketer, Norlan Williams was the pick of the Gomea Bombers bowling, taking 2/43.
However, Gomea Bombers faltered badly in their chase, being dismissed for 57 in 14.3 overs, undone by the bowling of Dwayne Williams, 4/8; Zevron Bobb, 2/5; and Adolph Adams, 2/18. Sixteen teams are contesting this year’s competition.
