New talents unearthed at Archery National Championships

Some new talents emerged when the Archery Association of St Vincent and the Grenadines, convened its 2024 National Archery Championships on September 7 and 8, 2024, at the West St George Secondary School’s playing field. The organisers also included a 15-metre distance, known as the Barebow Men Extraordinary Beginners.

Topping that category was Kris Simmons, with Jason Scott, second; and Andre Hadley, third.

Also, there was a Barebow Mixed Beginner 30 metres category, in which Teneka Baptiste finished first, Prince John was second, and third was Brian Gibbs.

Meanwhile, in the Recurve Men’s Beginners 30 metres, Adrian Parris was ahead of Tristan Parris, and Arush Balipalli, in that order.

Up the ladder, the relatively experienced Jared Nichols, won the Recurve Men’s Development 50 metres category. Rayon Clarke and Nichols Deane were second and third, respectively.

Likewise, the trio of national selectees- Divya Jiandani, Richol Richards and Marese Burgin, earned the three spots in the Recurve Women’s 50 metres; and, in the pairs segment, Jared Nichols and Divya Jiandani won the Recurve Mixed Team Development 50 metres segment, with Rayon Clarke and Richol Richards, second and Nichols Deane and Marese Burgin, third.

All three top finishers in each of the categories were rewarded with gold, silver, and bronze medals accordingly.

Twenty archers aimed at becoming champions during the packed two days of activities.
