System Three and Blossom Unlimited cop Youth Summer Cup titles
System Three bossed the Under-13 and Under-15 Divisions, while Blossom Unlimited champed the Under-17 age category, when the 2024 St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation’s Youth Summer Cup ended last Saturday, August 24, at the Richmond Hill Playing Field.
A 3-1 win over Greiggs gave System Three the Under-13 title and a $1,200 uniform voucher, after Rashard Morgan, Jshan Samuel and Jahmarie Layne, scored in quick succession.
The trio responded to Andre Baker’s early strike that saw Greiggs pressing the first button.
It was tighter though in the Under-15 final, as a Usain Mc Kie goal was the difference between System Three and SV United. And, on a day of finals that served up all the ingredients, Blossom Unlimited ran out 4-2 winner on penalties versus Adare 360.
Both units had played to a 1-1 tie in regulation time. Khalil Cato scored for Blossom Unlimited, and for Adare 360 the goal scorer was Akeem Nichols.
Like the Under-13 champions, the Under-15s and Under-17 winners, will each also benefit from a $1,200 uniform voucher, compliments the SVGFF. The second places get $400 meal vouchers from Subway.
The competition that ran from August 9, 2024, saw a total of 30 teams seeking honours. The hosting of the SVGFF Summer Youth Cup came about after the Hamilton Lashley Foundation regional event had to be cancelled following the passing of Hurricane Beryl on July 1. That competition was set for August 9 to 24.
