Out Ah Trouble grab third Greiggs 10/10 Softball title

For the third successive time, Country Meet Town Out Ah Trouble Family has scalped the Caesar’s Real Estate / Hairoun Beer/Nar Friend Dem Greiggs 10/10 Softball Cricket Competition.

However, the Sunday, August 11, 2024 final game was the toughest task for the perennial champions.

Facing Owia Strikers at the Greiggs Central Playing Field, it took Out Ah Trouble down to the last ball to complete their hat-trick of titles.

A six by Deroy Strough pushed Out Ah Trouble to 82 for 7, chasing 77 to win.

Before Strough’s invaluable 10 runs not out, Davian Barnum and Travis Cumberbatch had each scored 15, and Imran Samuel, 13.

Earlier, Owia Strikers had posted 76 for 3 from their 10 overs. Leading the way was Desron Hoyte, who lashed 34, and Osnet Cato,18.

Travis Cumberbatch took two of three wickets that fell, bowling for Out Ah Trouble.

Out Ah Trouble’s three wicket win, earned them a trophy and $1,500 with Owia Strikers gaining a trophy and $1,000.

Meanwhile, Fairbaine United took the third spot after an uncomplicated 8 wicket win over Bank of SVG All Stars, in a match that preceded the final.

All Stars batted first, reaching 78 for 9 from their 10 overs. Shamic Roberts scored 43.

Kegan Cordice took 5 wickets, and Dwayne Williams scalped 2, bowling for Fairbaine United, whose batters then reached the victory target with overs to spare.

Glendon James made 40 not out and Dwayne Williams, 31 not out, to see their team over the line at 81 for 2.

Fairbaine United thus collected $500 and a trophy.

Travis Cumberbatch of Out Ah Trouble was adjudged Player of the Final, while Glendon James of Fairbaine United, was the competition’s leading scorer, with 313 runs.

James also was the overall MVP of the competition, as he had four wickets to add to his batting exploits.

Anthonio Barker of Fairbaine United had the most wickets, 11, while Travis Peters was rewarded for snaring the best catch.

Also rewarded was Kevorn Phillips of Nar Fren Dem, who was deemed the Most Promising Young Player.

With the 10/10 title decided and tucked away, teams will now focus on the longer 20/20 format that bowls off on September 1, 2024.

Out Ah Trouble are the defending champions in that segment too.
