SVG Olympics Committee names four for Paris Olympics

ST VINCENT and the Grenadines (SVG), will be represented at the 2024 Paris Olympics in France, by Shafiqua Maloney, Handal Roban, Alexander Joachim and Kennice Greene. Maloney, who qualified for both the Women’s 400 and 800m, but who will compete in the latter, leads the Vincentian team.

The 25 year old Maloney, who is a previous Olympian having attended the 2020 Tokyo Games in 2021, has Roban as the other Track and Field representative.

Roban, 21, who received a universality place, like Maloney, runs in his pet event, the Men’s 800m.

Meanwhile, Joachim and Greene, representatives of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation, will both compete in the 50m Freestyle.

Apart from the four, Team Athletics SVG has recommended the inclusion of the US based coaches of Maloney and Roban, to travel with their athletes. The swim coaches also will travel with their athletes.

The Vincentian schedule shows that Joachim will be first into action on August 1, with Maloney entering the fray on August 2.

Then it will be the turn of Greene on August 3, with Roban taking the track on August 7.

The 2024 Paris Olympics begins on Friday July 26, with the opening ceremony, and ends on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
