Vincy Jewels confirmed for 2024 Americas Netball Youth Qualifiers

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), along with nine other countries have confirmed participation in the 2024 Americas Netball World Youth Cup Qualifiers, scheduled to be played in Guadeloupe from July 7 – 14, 2024. The confirmed 10 countries are St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; Canada; Cayman Islands; Grenada; Jamaica; Sint Maarten; Trinidad and Tobago; and hosts, Guadeloupe.

In preparation for the hosting of the qualifiers, Vincy Jewels youths have been training twice weekly, circumstances permitting, and the final 12 players will be released in the coming days. St. Vincent and the Grenadines is drawn in Pool A, alongside Canada; Cayman Islands; Grenada; and Jamaica. Pool B comprises hosts Guadeloupe; Trinidad and Tobago; Barbados; Antigua and Barbuda; and Sint Maarten.

Vincy Jewels Youths have their first game against Cayman Islands on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.; and their second against Grenada at 5:00 p.m. the following day.

Jamaica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines do battle on Wednesday July 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m., and the Vincentians take on Canada at 5:00 p.m. the following day, Thursday July 11, 2024.

A Local Organising Committee comprising 12 persons, was established from various islands, two of whom are co-chairs- in Susan Augustine and Javon Edward.

“The LOC is a very versatile LOC and very well experienced with a lot of knowledge. With Octavia (Gibson) being there and Marva (Bernard) to guide us, I don’t think we can go wrong as far as that experience,” Edward said.

“Our primary function is to ensure that we execute an event…and to ensure that when the teams come in, everything is in place…”.
