Curtains come down on North Leeward Softball Cricket tourney

Golden Predators took the Women’s title, and Spring Sixers the Men’s title, when the VINLEC North Leeward T/20 Super League Softball Tournament ended last Saturday June 8, 2024, at the Petit Bordel Playing Field.

Facing Beachfront in the final, Golden Predators posted 117/4 from their 20 overs. Top scores came from Tonicia Creese, 51 not out and Shanell Mc Kie, 30.

Jasmine Harry was the best bowler for Beachfront taking 2/19.

In reply, Beachfront made 132/4 from their 20 overs. Shantel Murray hit 35 and Tamaica Laborde, 25.

Shanel Mc Kie was the most successful bowler for Golden Predators, scalping 2/18.

Golden Predators won by 45 runs, with Tonicia Creese named Player of the Final.

In the Men’s Final, Spring Sixers scored 158/ 6 from their 20 overs, with SVG Under-15 and Under- 19 and Windwards Under-15 player, Jorden Charles, hitting 38, and Rickel Stapleton, 37.

Jeremy Haywood picked off 2/37, bowling for Troumaca Starlight, whose response was 125 all out from 20 overs.

Elmore Robertson, 30, and Tilron Harry, 24, were Starlight’s best batters, but their efforts saw their team losing by 33 runs.

Starlight’s batting was undone by the bowling of Player of the Final, Rickel Stapleton, who took 3/8, and Damal Gould who had 2/19.
