New black belt enters the fold

One new black belt emerged from the joint Kyu and Dan promotion exams that took place on May 18, 2024 at the Intermediate High School.

Making the grade was Rishaud Roache who joined the ranks of the Yudansha, holders of the dan grade.

Roache thus joined the lot of black belt holders here in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

President of the Hairouna Karate Federation( HKF), Claude Bascombe Jr. noted that over the years, St Vincent and the Grenadines has had many black belt recipients, and with the addition of Roache, the total active standing is now 27.

Bascombe Jr, a 6th Dan, and chief instructor of the Seishin Karate Dojo who was among the adjudicators in the promotions exam, expressed delight at the pass rate.

“There was a 98 percent success rate with one resit and 44 passes.”

Apart from Bascombe Jr. the other adjudicators were Sensei, Allan Burke 6th Dan, chief instructor of the IKD St. Vincent & the Grenadines and IKD Shotokan Karate Club; and Sensei, Seon Stronghold 3rd Dan, chief instructor of Dragon-Ryu Karate.
