Vincy Heat finishes runner-up in CNL

A comfortable 3-0 win over Belize last Tuesday, November 21, at the Kirani Athletic Stadium in Grenada, gave St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Vincy Heat the much needed three points in Group C of League B of the Concacaf Nations League(CNL).

A goal each from Diel Spring, Kyle Edwards and Oryan Velox, accounted for the Vincentians’ triumph, as they ended their campaign on nine points, and an eventual second place in the group.

The Vincentians went into the fixture in a must win situation, to avoid relegation, and answered the call.

It was the second time that the Vincentians were toppling Belize, having recorded a 2-1 win over the Central Americans on September 8, when the fixture was held in Martinique.

Vincy Heat followed up with a 4-3 win over Bermuda on September 12.

However, losing three matches on the trot put Vincy Heat in the last position in the Group.

They were beaten 4-1 and 3-2 by French Guiana on October 13 and 17, respectively, then were defeated by Bermuda, 3-1 on November 17.

French Guiana topped the competitive Group C with 10 points; Bermuda third on 8 points and Belize in fourth place on 7 points.

Belize has been relegated to League C of the next installation of the CNL.
