Thirty- six teams in Breakaway Masters Football Tournament

Some 36 teams are registered for competition in the 2023 Carib Beer Breakaway Masters Invitational Football Tournament which opened last Saturday, July 22.

Eighteen team are listed in the Firms Division- seven in the Females category; six in the Under-17; and five in the Under-19 to compete for honours in the tournament.

Making up Zone A of the Firms Division are defending champions, Argyle International Airport (AIA); CK Greaves; KFC Strikers; BRAGSA; Coreas Hazells Inc.; CWSA; Bonadies’; Vinlec; and AECON Fisherfolk.

Zone B comprises RSVG Police; Combined Banks; Coreas Distribution; Guardsman; Massy Stores; Ministry of Education; Toni Stores Combined; Ministry of Transport and Works/ SG De Freitas Combined; and Gibson’s Building Supplies.

The seven female teams are North Leeward Predators, the defending champions; Je Belle; Awesome; System Three; Camdonia- Chelsea; Avenues; and Toni Stores Combined.

The Agriculture Input Warehouse Under-17 segment comprises Parkside Rollers; Rocksdale; System Three one and two; Camdonia- Chelsea; and Avenues.

And, the Under-19 category comprises North Leeward Predators; Adare; Je Belle; last year’s champions, System Three; and Richmond Hill.

Last year’s winners, Volcanoes, are not competing as they are serving a ban from all St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation sanctioned tournaments.

The Tournament opened last Saturday, July 22, at the Richmond Hill Playing Field, with the opening ceremony, the parade and inspection of teams, as well as competitive matches.

BRAGSA was adjudged the best dressed team on show.

The tournament which hosts matches each day of the week, is set to end at the end of August.

The Breakaway Masters Football League began in 2011, however, there were no tournaments in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the eruptions of La Soufriere volcano.
