Spring Village takes both titles in North Leeward Softball competition
Spring Village took both titles as the finals of the male and female divisions of the DMG Furniture North Leeward Sports and Cultural Organisation’s softball cricket competition were decided on Sunday, November 13 at the Chateaubelair Playing Field.
In the male final, Spring Village defeated Rose Bank Big League by 54 runs.
Spring Village, on the back of Rickel Stapleton’s 70, Clemore Millington’s 29 and 21 from Gerran Charles, scored 186 for 9 from their 20 overs.
Kenson Dalzell picked up 3 for 31 and Shallford Caesar, 2 for 27.
Spring Village replied with 132 all out from 19.5 overs. Kuthbert Spring hit 30, Javid Caesar, 23 and Kenson Dalzell made 22.
Bowling for Spring Village, Kimali Williams scalped 3 for 24 and Akeil Mason had 2 for 13.
Rickel Stapleton was adjudged player of the final.
And, in the female final, Spring Village saw off Ball Burners by 73 runs.
Sherrion Williams struck 82 not out, Ladonna Charles made 44 and Jennifer Charles contributed 36, to lead Spring Village to 236 for 4 from their allotted 20 overs.
Lafecia Sam was the pick of Ball Burners’ bowlers, taking 2 for 36.
Ball Ballers were then hemmed in at 163 for 7 from their 20 overs; Shenezia Daniel hit 49.
Jennifer Charles had 2 for 30 and Joan Francois, 2 for 32 to ensure that Spring Village completed the double.
Sherrion Williams copped the player of the final award.
