Top Belair softball cricket endures shortened matches
The National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Softball Cricket competition, hosted all five matches of its 2022 last weekend at the Dauphine Playing Field, but all matches were either affected by late starts or inclement weather.
On Saturday, Cole Block and Trucking Gomea Bombers disconnected Vinlec Power Stars by 10 runs in a 17 over affair, occasioned by a late start.
Gomea Bombers made 117 for 9 in their 17 overs; Edwin Joe, 46 and Vernnardo Primus 26.
Bowling for Vinlec Power Stars, Chester Keil had 3 for 32 and Shane Mc Dowall 2 for 31.
Vinlec Power Stars, scored 107 for 8 from their 17 overs. Aton Charles, 34, not out and Kevain Small, 25.
Gomea Bombers’ most successful bowler was Christon Williams, who took 3 for 13.
Saturday’s second match was a 12 over contest between Kombat Warriors and Coreas Distribution Older Boys, also affected by a late start followed by a rain interruption.
Older Boys reached 44 for 7 in 12 overs, as Romano Pierre had 2 for3 and Dwayne Williams 2 for 10.
Kombat Warriors replied with 49 for 4 from 5.4 overs. Rohan King took 2 for 22, bowling for Older Boys.
The trend of shortened matches continued on Sunday.
In match one, Glen United won on a faster scoring rate after 5 overs against Dr Thomas Injectors.
Glen United, on the back of Maxian Hackshaw’s 87 and Marcus Hackshaw’s 23 piled on 182 for 5 from 20 overs. Brennal Maloney scalped 2 for 25.
In reply, Dr Thomas Injectors were 51 for 2 from 8.2 overs. Thus, at the 5 over mark, Glen United was 71 for 1, while Injectors were 36 for 1.
Then Hard Hitters won from AIA Reload, in a match that started late.
Hard Hitters amassed 129 for 9 in 15 overs. Rohan Lavia made 49.
Bowling for AIA Reload, Noel Bobb took 4 for 10 and Nkosi Toby 3 for 22.
AIA Reload reached 92 for 7 in 15 overs. Ezra Jacobs, 23 and Noel Bobb 21.
For Hard Hitters, Juan Baptiste picked up 3 for 5 and Shawn Williams 3 for 24.
And, Country Meet Town Out Ah Trouble registered a five wicket win over Bank of SVG All Stars.
From their 15 overs, All Stars made 61 for 9 with Asquith Mapp scoring 20.
For Out Ah Trouble, Kennon Williams had 4 for 16, Deroy Strough 2 for 9 and Travis Cumberbatch 2 for 13.
Stein Joseph, 32 not out, led Out Ah Trouble to 62 for 5 from 10.1 overs. Kelique Samuel had bowling figures of 3 for 19 and Lenroy Danzell 2 for 13.
