Full slate in Top Belair’s softball cricket weekend

Despite the dicey weather, the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation (TBPO) Softball Cricket Competition, was able to host a full slate of matches last weekend.

On Saturday, Cole Block and Trucking Gomea Bombers outdid Bank of SVG All Stars by 64 runs in a match shortened by rain.

Gomea Bombers accumulated 156 for 9 from the 15 overs. Danroy Hazel top scored with 42 and Kentish Phillips made 29.

All Stars’ bowling was led by Kelique Samuel who had 2 for 10 along with Lenroy Danzell and Kelly Murry, who both had 2 for 28.

In response, All Stars made 92 all out in 14.2 overs. Lenroy Danzell, 30 and Courtney Mc Dowald 23.

Bowling for Gomea Bombers, Azmon Forbes grabbed 4 for 5, Raymond Sayers 2 for 18 and Keniel Skinner 2 for 21.

Saturday’s other match resulted in Coreas Distribution Older Boys by 53 runs over Sunset Strikers.

Older Boys amassed 172 for 5 in 12 overs. Adolphus Adams, 96 and Ishmael Bascombe, 35 not out.

Zane Greaves was Sunset Strikers’ most successful, taking 2 for 37.

Sunset Strikers replied with 119 for 4 in their 12 overs. Zane Greaves, 47 and Jesse Shallow 28.

Recording the first win on Sunday was AIA Reload, who won from Dr Thomas Injectors by 18 runs.

AIA Reload posted 120 all out in 19.5 overs; Akeme Charles 35. Tex Franklyn took 4 for 23, Brennal Maloney 2 for 15, and Emroy James 2 for 36.

Responding, Injectors made 102 all out in 15.2 overs.

Bowling for AIA Reload, Junius London picked up 2 for 5; Sylvan Greene 2 for 7 and Akeme Charles 2 for 34.

In the second match, Kombat Warriors won by a faster run rate over Curtis King Toppers, using the five over mark.

Toppers made 67 all out in 20 overs. Joel Patterson made 20. Kerwin Browne scalped 2 for 5, Kamal Jackson picked up 2 for 7 and Danroy Fergus had 2 for 16.

Kombat Warriors were 54 for 2 from eight overs when rain stopped play. Kamari Browne made 24.

After 5 overs Toppers were at 13 for 3, while Kombat Warriors were 44 for 1.

Meanwhile, game three which was also affected by rain was reduced to 15 overs per side.

Glen United made 102 for 4 from their 15 overs. Maxi, 60 not out. Bowling for Hard Hitters, Anthonio Barker had 2 for 5.

Hard Hitter’s batters were undone by the bowling of Maxi Hackshaw who scalped 2 for 0; Troy Harry, 2 for 17; Esworth Jacobs, 2 for 19; and Marcus Hackshaw, 2 for 21, falling for 78 from 12.3 overs.

Tyrese Baptiste 30 and Javid Baptiste 21, were Hard Hitters’ lead batters.
