Mc Coy signs for Paarl Royals
Demand for the services of Vincentian left-arm medium fast bowler Obed Mc Coy grew another notch last week, when he signed with Paarl Royals in the inaugural Cricket South Africa T/20 League.
Paarl Royals will be one of six franchises competing in the league set to be played in January and February 2023.
Mc Coy is one of four players the Paarl Royals have signed ahead of the auction. Mc Coy thus has been bought at US$187 500.
McCoy, who represented Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, in his debut season collected 11 wickets from his seven matches, doing so at an economy rate of 9.17.
On August 1, this year, he picked up his career-best figures of 6 for 17 for West Indies against India in the second Twenty/20 International (T/20Is) which the West Indies won by five wickets.
In the process, the 25-year-old Mc Coy erased the 5 for 15 posted by Keemo Paul for the West Indies versus Bangladesh in December, 2018, which stood as the West Indies’ previous best.
Furthermore, Mc Coy also became the first West Indies bowler to take six wickets in T/20Is, as well as the first to get a five-wicket haul versus India in T/20Is.
