Gregg, Shoy take TT titles in National Championships
Lamont Gregg of Spencer’s Table Tennis Club and Kimoni Shoy of the Adams Table Tennis Club, have already secured titles in the St Vincent and the Grenadines Table Tennis Association (SVGTTA) National Championships, which is ongoing at the Auditorium of the West St George Secondary School.
Gregg defeated Jason John 11-7, 11-7, to clinch the Under-13 Boys Singles title, on Monday.
Before lifting the title, Gregg saw off Nathaniel Lawrence 11-4, 11-5 and in the other half of the semi-final, Jason John Jr. beat Jaheim John 11-5, 11-7.
Taking the Boys Under-15 was Kimoni Shoy of Adams Table Tennis Club, who defeated Gregg 13-11, 13-11, 11-7, in a hard-fought decider.
Also, on Monday, Shoy beat Joshua Simmons 12-10, 11-3, 8-11, 4-11, 11-8 en route to face Gregg in the final. Gregg beat Jaheim John 8-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6, to set up another shot at a title.
Meanwhile, Leah Cumberbatch and Shanecia Delpesche will face-off against each other when they clash in the finals of the Juniors Girls singles Open on August 25, as the championships conclude.
The two finalized their places with wins in the semi-finals played on Tuesday, August 16.
Cumberbatch beat Cahmyah Jackson 11-6, 11-5, 11-5, while Delpesche saw off Jessica Mc Carter 11-5, 9-11, 15-13, 11-7, in a tussle for a place in the final.
To be determined are the Teams title, the Under-13 and Under-15 females, the Under-18, the Senior men’s singles, as well as Masters titles.
