Mc Coy holds West Indies T/20I bowling record

Vincentian Obed Mc Coy achieved West Indies’ best bowling figures in T/20 Internationals (T/20Is), and the best against India by any side in the format, when he scalped 6 for 17 from four overs, with one being a maiden, at the Warner Park in St Kitts last Monday, August 1, in match two of the five match series.

The 25-year-old Mc Coy, thus erased the 5 for 15 done by Keemo Paul for the West Indies versus Bangladesh in December, 2018, which stood as the West Indies’ previous best.

Establishing more records, Mc Coy also became the first West Indies bowler to take six wickets in T/20Is, as well as the first to get a five-wicket haul versus India in T/20Is.

In the process as well, Mc Coy’s figures were the seventh best from any nation in the shortest form of the game at the international level.
Rewinding Monday’s heroics, McCoy got four of his wickets after getting the first two inside the third over of the match, to orchestrate India crashing to 138 all out with two deliveries left in the innings.

Monday’s match was Mc Coy’s 29th T/20I.

Amidst, all the plaudits and achievements, Mc Coy said in a post-match interview that he dedicated the Man of the Match accolade to his mother who is unwell.
