Playaz Youth Academy on a mission to revive basketball in SVG

The members of Playaz Youth Academy are on a drive to bring the sport of Basketball alive again in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). This is happening right before our very eyes; the patrons and players were very excited for the opportunity to watch the youths again at the Calliaqua hard court over the Easter Weekend at the Mavrix Easter Basketball Tournament where Playaz Youth Academy emerged the champions.

In a release, the Academy has appealed for support in reviving the sport.

“We are encouraging the youths to get involved and to occupy themselves doing something positive, not only through our Academy but any other throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our Academy enrols youths as young as seven years of age, boys and girls.

“ Saturday morning clinics are being held at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m to noon.

Parents/guardians/families and friends, I implore you to make time, encourage them, too many are going astray, too many are burying their talents; we are a nation that not only excel in academics but sports as well, let us not just sit by and watch what our parents used to say come to pass “an idle brain and hands are the devil’s playground”.

“ I believe we may have some future NBA stars right here waiting to be discovered.

“Playaz Youth Academy is preparing to host their annual Basketball Summer Camp; we will also be hosting an Invitational Sporting Showcase and lots more”.

The Academy is urging persons to check for updates on its Facebook and Instagram pages, “Playaz Youth Academy” or to call (784) 533-4216.
