National Decathlon record reset
The new St Vincent and the Grenadines mark in the Decathlon now stands at 4759 points. The new mark was set last Friday and Saturday by Godwyn Roban, when he competed at the Osprey Open and Multi Championships at Stockton College in New Jersey, USA.
Roban added points to the previous best of 4577 achieved by Jacques Edwards of the High Performance Club in 2019.
A first year student of Post University in Connecticut, the 23-year-old Roban performed creditably in the most of the 10 events.
Roban’s best showing was in the 100 m, while he claimed two second places in the 400 m and shot put. He placed third in the long jump, javelin and high jump.
Down the line, Roban finished fourth in the pole vault and 110 m hurdles, as well as an eighth place in the 1500m and in the discus, he fouled his attempts.
