Vincentian trio for Jamaica Cycling event

Three cyclists from St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are part of a contingent of overseas cyclists who have joined their Jamaican counterparts to compete in the Inaugural three stage Jamaica International Cycling Classic.

Zefal Bailey, along with brothers Marlon and Lucky Antrobus will fly the SVG flag at the event which takes place in Montego Bay from today, April 1 and ends on April 3.

Covering in total a distance of 194 miles, the event is being held in three stages.

Today’s first stage is a 56- mile loop from Witter Village to Falmouth, Trelawny and back. Stage two is an 86- mile race from Witter Village to Discovery Bay in St Ann’s, and stage three is a 52-mile race again from Witter Village to Trelawny, to return and finish at the start point.

Apart from the Vincentian trio, the other overseas cyclists are from the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago and the USA.

Around 150 cyclists have registered for the event which organisers are using as part of efforts to build sports tourism in Jamaica.
