Shad Thomas gets player of the week award

Vincentian Shad Thomas has earned the National Junior College Athletic Association division II player of the week award.

Thomas, who attends the Catawba Valley Community College in North Carolina, earned his award for his showing in his team’s last two matches.

His all-round performance saw him totaling 30 points, 26 rebounds and 5 steals, in two matches.

Thomas, a former student of the Union Island Secondary School, left here Shad Thomas gets player of the week awardin 2019 to attend the Salem Baptist Christian School, also in North Carolina.

After two years at the SBCC, he landed a scholarship to attend the Catawba Valley Community College, on the strength of his basketball skills and his academics.

Before leaving St Vincent and the Grenadines, Thomas represented his school, the Union Island Secondary, Tanty Ma, Blue Chip Basketball Academy, as well as the SVG schools’ team at the annual Windward Islands schools’ games.

Thomas was given the opportunity to travel to the USA to further his skills, thanks to the efforts of fellow Vincentian, Kishon Bishop, the founder of Hope & Hope and the Blue Chip Basketball Academy.

Bishop, who hails from Campden Park, has been residing in North Carolina, for many years, but his heart is domiciled in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
