SVG Chess Federation to host first tourney

THE CHESS Federation will hold its inaugural national chess tournament on December 11-12, 2021 at the Gate 3 restaurant situated at the old waving gallery of the decommissioned ET Joshua Airport. This new establishment at the ET Joshua Shopping Center will host the tournament from 9:00a.m to 1:00p.m on both days, a release states.

The tournament is open to all who wish to enter. It will consist of six rounds in the Swiss tournament format, and will have active chess time controls. This means that each player will have 30 minutes to complete all moves for each game. The winner will receive the Tyrone Jack Memorial Trophy as well as a cash prize and the right to be recognised as the first national chess champion. Cash prizes will be awarded to the

first and second runners up. An entrance fee of $15 will apply for players under 18 and $25 for adult competitors. Those who have chess sets and chess clocks are asked to take them along. Players wishing to register can do so on the first day of the tournament between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.
