Under-20 females bow out of Concacaf qualifiers

ST VINCENT AND THE Grenadines’ quest to reach the elimination phase of the CONCACAF Under-20 female championships, ended last Friday at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Curacao.

Going into the match in a must-win scenario against the fancied Bermuda outfit, the Vincentians were outclassed 4-0.

Bermuda went ahead in the 24th minute through Jahni Simmons, who doubled her tally and that of her team in the 41st. Emily Cabral extended Bermuda’s lead with a goal in the 53rd minute. Katherine Beam closed off the dominance with a goal in the 75th minute.

The Vincentians ended with a lone point, earned from a 1-1 draw against the US Virgin Islands on Wednesday.

Bermuda thus topped Group A, having defeated the US Virgin Islands 5-0.

Bermuda will join Group B winners the Cayman Islands, along with Curacao winners of Group C and Suriname which topped Group D, to the next phase.
