VPL 3.0 stand outs recognised

Soufriere Hikers’ Othniel Lewis was the most valuable player in the Dream 11 Vincy Premier League (VPL) 3.0, which ended last Sunday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Lewis compiled 165 runs with a highest score of 35. He did so at an average of 41.25. With his right-arm off-breaks, Lewis collected 8 wickets at a cost of 15.38 runs each.

Lewis won the man of the match award in last Sunday’s final.

Meanwhile, topping the batting aggregate was Dark View Explorers’ Romano Pierre, who scored 306 runs. The left-handed Pierre had a highest score of 65 not out. His average was 34. Pierre became the first batsman to cross the 300 mark in the three editions of the VPL.

Capturing the most wickets was Hikers’ Benniton Stapleton, who snared 14 scalps at a cost of 11.93 runs apiece.

Apart from taking the most wickets, Stapleton was the first bowler to take a beaver-trick, when he picked up 4 for 13 versus Salt Pond Breakers.

And, copping the emerging player award was 16-year-old Luke Wilson of runners-up Explorers. Lewis took 11 wickets at 13.18 runs each.

Hikers retained their title with a one-run win over Explorers.
